Laia is a biologist with a master’s degree in Applied Ecology. Her work has allowed her to achieve experience working with marine animals such as large commercial fish, birds, and cetaceans, and develop a strong background in sample collection and management, data processing, lab work analyzing mercury, stable isotopes, and molecular biology. Her interests include trophic ecology of top predators, genetic structure analysis among populations, sexual maturity studies, environmental toxicology and chemistry, marine ecotoxicology, food web-bioaccumulation, fishery science and management, and conservation.
The most important thing for her is working for the species with profound love. She considers that all creatures are important. She is leading this project because tunas are amazing creatures that need more attention and have a lot of things to teach us and considers that her job would be impossible to do without an amazing team.
